11/4/2008 On the tour trail

On the eve of one of the most historical elections of our time, we've found unusual parallels between ourselves and both presidential candidates. For those of you that have followed the campaign over the past four months, you well know how much ground has been covered to try to gain control of the White House. Similarly, we too have been covering much ground over the past four months. In our case, however, the road doesn't dead end at the White House, instead, it spirals out of control into a never ending abyss of dive bars, revamped theaters and radio stations...

See, we too are on a campaign. A campaign that most recently has taken us on six flights over a period of seven days. The madness began only days ago with a 6 AM flight to Toronto. The day was crammed with multitudes of interviews and performances. Our flight, of course, was delayed two hours. Flight delays are an annoyance to everyone, but in our case, this delay meant we might miss the MTV sound check. Luckily, upon arrival, our local label rep was not afraid to greatly exceed the speed limit while muttering "Seat belts everyone?". In the nick of time, we made the cutoff... Two hours late, in true rock star fashion. After the MTV performance, and an acoustic radio performance, it was straight to the gig at The Horseshoe in downtown Toronto. Two hours of sleep and flight delays aren't usually conducive to an energetic live performance, but somehow we powered through it. Perhaps we could credit all that Canadian Molson... As I write to you now, we are cooked up in a hotel room in the great city of Milwaukee awaiting tonight's show with 3OH!3. Tomorrow, we meet back up with the Hawthorne Heights tour in San Diego and have straight shows till mid-December.

Friends, our campaign is far from over. Every state is a battle ground state. Will you continue to support the music of the past eight years? Or will you come out and show your support for the kind of change we need? The choice is yours...

10/21/2008 Band Blog

I feel like i just arose from a slumber of a thousand years. I see unfamiliar crab grass patches. I see skinny, tall trees that represent tropical lands that inhabit animals such as monkeys and toucans. I see burger stands that only exist in a region where the trailers outnumber the babies on the street. We are not in Colorado anymore. We are in Florida, the beautiful sunshine state.

Despite the fact that we were surrounded by foreign territory, The State Theater in St. Petersburg was somewhat comforting. I didn't realize how much I missed the stale air and harsh walls of this rock n' roll fortress even though we were just here 3 weeks ago. There was a quaint meet and greet with the other bands with soda pop and cake, I enjoyed it thoroughly. After situating the profuse amounts of gear on the stage we were, in-fact, ready to rock. I was actually too ready, if there is such a thing. I was just so darn excited to be playing again that in an upheaval of music and emotion i rocked so hard that forgot where i was and lost my step over the side of the stage. Yes, I fell. And it was a damn epic fall. I hit hard against the concrete dazed about what had just happened but still managing to strum the right chords. A hand full of people ran to the side to see if i was still conscious but i was already up and running back on stage just in time for my solo at the end of "I Can't Breathe". To my and everyone's surprise we finished the song with only minor cuts and bruises. In conclusion, our set was entertaining, if only to see me bust my ass.

On top of that we have added another member to our group. James Dean. Full, 100% badass. He is accompanying us to work sound and take out any who oppose us. It has felt great being back on the road and getting to revisit with all our friends that come to the shows. We cannot thank Hawthorne Heights enough for taking us out on this tour with them. It is a privilege to share the stage every night with such great bands. And in times like these when the economy is so bad, we are indebted to all of you that are still coming out to the shows. We thank you from the bottom of our pulsating pink heart! --Joey Barba

9/2/2008 Tour Blog
The road is a very unforgiving place.... Never is this more apparent than when you wake up only to find that your van has been completely gutted of all electronics. Sadly, this has become our grim reality.

Our stay in Chicago began almost picture perfect. We played at the Metro right next to Wrigley Field. The sound was incredible, which is a welcome change from most of the venues we play. After the show we headed downtown to indulge in the Chicago nightlife. Side note: If you have never been to Chicago, I highly recommend going. We've been to a lot of cities and this place tops them all... This is where the story takes a turn for the worse. After breakfast downtown, we found our van door locks completely blown out and dashboard ripped off. Upon further inspection, our iPods, DVD's, CD's, TV, PS3 and GPS we're all missing as well. This is when that terrible feeling in the pit of your stomach hits you like a sledgehammer. There were many expletives soon to follow... Needless to say, it was a bitter end to great morning. But, as always, we are pressing on to Cleveland, Ohio to play at the House of Blues tonight.

If anything, this experience has taught us how to navigate with a road atlas and follow road signs; and to entertain ourselves without the help of PS3's and fancy electronics... Who are we kidding though, 12-hour drives in the van with no more than each other for entertainment, someone is bound to snap.

7/24/2008 And the show goes on....
As you all are well aware by now, this band suffered a great blow this month. We lost our good friend and band mate Johnny Schou on July 1st, the same day our album Madeline was released nationwide. These are bittersweet times for us, but the decision to press on was only natural. Our good friend Joey has taken it upon himself to help us out for our upcoming shows. We are incredibly grateful for all the support that we've received from our fans and friends. Your outreach has made it much easier to move forward.

With that said, the first few shows of the Finch/SKSK shows couldn't have gone better. The tour started at the SOMA in San Diego and we just finished two back to back shows at the Glass House in Pomona. From here, the plan was to go to St. George, Utah, however, we hit a snag. Our van broke down but we're back on track and psyched to play the show in LA tonight.
